Finding Home

On my way down for our 19 East gig. Too bad I couldnt make it to witness the protest against the threat of cutting 182 trees in Baguio. That city served as a nest of inspiration to a lot of artists. Thats where I wrote all these new songs and met really good people. Will figure something out tonight and hopefully get help from environmentally conscious groups to converge. Before this streak of frequent visits, it was 1993 and it was still different. It smelled of pines and lesser smoke from motorists who cared about their contribution to clean air. Now its changed a lot, but it tries to keep itself intact by staying as green as possible. To push it to accelerated destruction thru lack of protection from natural disasters isn’t right. Remember Sendong, CDO and Illigan, remember Marikina and Ondoy, remember a summer in the City of Pines and remember that our heritage is represented and fueled by the existence of trees.

I just moved here last September and I wish Henry Sy wouldn’t cut down those trees. It’s only been a few months but I already fell in love with this city. I hope the trees will be saved.

This month’s issue of PULP Magazine (with Cindy Lauper on the cover) has a feature on Up Dharma Down. And for a fan, I think this can be a collectors item because of these fantastic pictures of Armi, Ean, Carlos, and Paul. Imma have it signed, framed, and fill that space on my bedroom wall. :D - Bel (Admin)

Ang guwapo ni Paul dito! Hanep!

Dear you,

Thank you for giving me a reason not to hate work. :)

The guy on the photo used to be one of my schoolmates in grade school. I totally have no idea how I landed on his FB page but reading his post got me really upset. Let’s just say that his friends have bad taste in music but that doesn’t give him the right to tell his friends to dislike what they like!

For me, God had given us the talent to create music not just to praise and love Him, but also to teach His people how to take care of each other. I believe that He created musicians so that they can create songs about emotions we never had words for. Don’t tell me that you never thought of saying “Baby let me love you down, there’s so many ways to love you” to that lady beside you because that makes you a hypocrite. Ugh.

P.S. The sticks that you’re using carries Tony Royster Jr’s name. Just in case you have no idea who he is, he played for Jay-Z, an artist whom I assume you would consider as someone who creates “worldly” music.

Tadhana: Coach Rio’s Engagement Proposal Video (featuring Armi & Carlos)
December 22nd was not just an ordinary Thursday. What happened was special and heartwarming. We were told of the plans for a covert mission just the day before. And despite time pressure, the plan pulled thru exactly as it was planned by the girls of RunRio - Justine, Kathy, Jam and Ate Dada. And so with costumes and props, we covertly shot the proposal of the year. Imagine, a couple on a jeepney, and in various stops, their friends and the girlfriend’s favorite band, Up Dharma Down, hopped in. As the jeepney traversed the grounds of U.P. Diliman, the band started playing the girl’s favorite song “Tadhana.” Fate as it is, now we know why we’re blessed to cover RunRio’s runs for the past months, we were actually being part of Coach Rio dela Cruz’s Run for Love. Right there, with their friends and Oble as witnesses, the Maestro of Running fell down on his knees and proposed to a very beautiful girl named Nicole Wuthrich.

Twitter ethics 101

If you want to tweet the same thing that I just tweeted a few minutes ago, there’s this thing called “Retweet” button/link. Don’t just copy and paste the tweet that I just posted so that it will appear like you thought of it. Admit it, my tweet was genius. If the band that I mentioned retweeted yours instead of mine, I would be really pissed off. #uselessrant

I love this photo! Ganda namin ni Kizia. :D
